FAQs

C.K. McClatchy Class of 1974  ~ 50-Year Reunion

  1. Why are there two ticket prices, $95 and $115?
  • The “Early Bird” price is $95. To qualify for this discounted pricing, you must be one of the first 75 people to purchase a ticket up through March 31st
  • “April Fools” pricing goes into effect when 75 tickets have been sold or on April 1st, whichever occurs first.
  • You are welcome to bring one guest. (You might even consider a Lion from another class.)
  • Unlike with a hotel, many popular venues require a substantial additional deposit to bring the deposit up to 50%, 5-6 months prior to the event date, so we are encouraging classmates to purchase their ticket(s) early to meet that obligation in April.
  • In addition, leading up to our 45th Reunion, many classmates were waiting (and waiting, and waiting ;) to see who else was attending before committing. Early ticket sales will populate this list earlier, promoting others to join the fun!
  • The ticket price is higher than last time’s $75 because…inflation! Our pricing is in line with recent area reunion ticket prices at comparable venue sites.
  1. How do I purchase tickets?
  • Visit our website at McClatchy74.com. (This website is so clunky, but it’s the best we could find.)

  • Become a member of the site if you haven’t already done so. (It’s free!)
    • On the Home page, look to the right for a blue “Sign In” button and below it a “Join Here” hyperlink.
      • Either “Sign In” if you joined in the past, or click the “Join Here” hyperlink if you haven’t

      • If your email address has changed, please email us at CKMcClatchy74@gmail.com to inform us of your new email address. We will update your email address and email you a link to reset your password.
      • If your email address hasn’t changed, but you forgot your password, please email us at CKMcClatchy74@gmail.com because we discovered that the “forgot password” link included in the “sign in” window is broken.)

        • To qualify for the Early Bird price when paying by check, we will consider the postmark date the “date of purchase”.
  1. Tell me about Sequoia at The Cannery
  • It sits on the site of the old Libby Cannery at the SE corner of Alhambra and Stockton Boulevards.
  • It’s an amazing venue. Hip, historical, industrial and just a very cool environment. (A picture of the Sequoia Lounge was incorporated into the invitation.)
  • Famed Chef Aimal Formoli is co-owner and will be overseeing the creation of fabulous appetizer and dinner offerings.
  • The buffet dinner will be held in an adjacent/connected room which will remain open after dinner for those who prefer to stay put and visit as opposed to joining the crowd back in the lounge for photos and dancing after dinner.
  • There will be 2 no-host bars. One full bar and the other limited to beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Free parking in multi-storied lot on site.
  1. What is the dress code?
  • “Dressy Casual”. The venue is less formal than the Capitol View Room at the Hyatt where we celebrated our 45th, so feel free to forego the cocktail attire and ties. Definition? “Not-all-the-way-formal-but-please-don’t-wear-jean-shorts.” We want you to be comfortable and have fun. Think “festive”!
  1. What Hotels are close by?
  • The Fort Sutter Hotel Sacramento, Tapestry Collection by Hilton which is only .2 of a mile from Sequoia. This hotel has a nice bar in their lobby that’s open to the public until midnight. (I have a feeling that those of us not ready to go home at 10:00 might want to wander over there to continue the party 😉.) And Café Bernardo is downstairs which would be an excellent place for Sunday breakfast.
  • Eastern Star Hall near Sutter’s Fort was recently remodeled and is now Hyatt House Sacramento/Midtown which is .8 of a mile from Sequoia. The rooms here are less expensive than those at the Fort Sutter Hotel.
  • Both of these hotels are beautiful and very new. Check them out and let us know via email if you would be interested in booking a room. We would be happy to arrange for a discounted block at either, or both. Hotels usually require at least 10 booked rooms in a block. So, if/when I have a list of 10 or more classmates who want to stay at either hotel, I will approach the hotel to negotiate a room block discount. I will send the discount code to those on the list for use when they book their rooms.
  1. How do I donate? And where does the money go?
  • Go to McClatchy74.com and Sign In. Click on “Reunions Donations” on left. Scroll down to the window where you can donate.
  • Donations will pay for the DJ, photographer, flowers, dessert, etc. What is left over would be used for a 70th BD Bash for us in 2026.
  1. Will this be our last Reunion?
  • Probably. ☹ It appears that interest wains dramatically post 50th Reunions. However, we may organize very casual “birthday parties” starting with our 70th. 😊
  1. What if I have additional questions?
  • Please email us! (See, below.)
