James B. MacClanahan
September 19, 1956 - September 17, 2014.
James B. MacClanahan, retired U.S. Coast Guard Aviation ASM Chief Petty Officer, passed away peacefully at his home in Citrus Heights, CA, on Wednesday at age 57. He is survived by his high school sweetheart Karen, his son Justin, daughter and son-in-law Tiffany and Lucas Hart, granddaughter Molly, and siblings Tom MacClanahan, Louise MacClanahan, and Sylvia Perry.
After graduating McClatchy High School in 1974, he enlisted in the Coast Guard where he served in the Presidential Honor Guard in Washington D.C. and then as an Aviation Survivalman until he retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service. After retirement Jim worked for the Post Office.
Jim was a devoted family man, train enthusiast, Elk, Friends of the library, and Mason. Jim participated in a model railroad club and volunteered as a docent at the Sacramento Railroad Museum and the Sac Southern Train. Jim knew everyone and was loved by everyone.
Jim will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Dixon, CA, on Monday, September 22 at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make a small donation to the Sacramento Railroad museum in Jim's honor.
